Reflection Post: Weeks 1 & 2

First Week: 09/14/2009
On our first day of class we did a really neat activity which got our whole class working together as a team and thinking critically.  The activity taught me that in life I need to be able to come into situations or look at things with an open mind, and that answers or solutions to things may not always be so obvious at first.  In the last half of the class we started learning about blogging, which was interesting yet intimidating, and got to create our own blogs.  I learned that blogging is such a great tool and I am extremely excited to learn as much as I can about blogging so I can start using the technology that is out there to better myself!
Second Week: 09/21/2009
During our second class period we watched a 60 minutes video which was very eye opening to me.  The video basically summed up what our government has been doing with the information that scientists are giving them about global warming.  I can't say that I was surprised to hear that they were censoring things, but I was surprised at how much they were cutting out of these scientists reports.  I believe that people need to be informed about what is really happening to our environment, because without the facts nothing is ever going to change!  We also talked about a few quotes and what these quotes mean when it comes to our environment, and we started discussing our read 'n' seed assignment too.  My book is called Fast Food Nation , this book takes a look at the American food industry and its influence locally and globally.  I am really interested in obesity and nutrition, and about the United States eating culture as a whole, so I think this book is going to be a great read!  We ended class learning new things about our blogs and got to start adding gadgets and pictures to our blogs too!  I really enjoyed this class, it was a very informative three hours.
